Class

I really enjoyed taking this class. I learned so much that I could use in the classroom. Even if the school I am in doesn't have a smartboard or something like it, there is still so many ways to integrate technology into the classroom. I really enjoyed all the projects we did because I can use them in the future.

Smartboard

I really enjoyed learning the software that accompanies the Smartboard. I have used the Smartboard before but I never used the actual software. I am glad I got to learn the different things that are offered in the software. There is so much that you can do with a smartboard. The possibilities are endless!

Microsoft Access

I have never heard of Access before this year. I know I have it on my computer, but I never knew what it was. This week in MIS we had to do a lab using Access. I really enjoyed working on it. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. We used it to list people and reservations, but it could be used for a lot of things. I defiantly use it for listing grades or anything else in the classroom. It would make listing who has what book easier than using Excel.

Excel

This week I did a lab in my MIS class. We had to set up a thing in excel that could be used to grade tests easily. All the teacher would need to do is to type in the answers that the children gave and it would automatically give a grade. Or a teacher could have the students type in their answers. I really liked learning how to set it all up and see how the different formulas worked. I could really use it when grading a test or having students take a test to encorporate technology in test taking.

Powerpoint

I have used powerpoint many times for projects, but there were still things that I did not know about it. I am glad that we were able to learn some more about powerpoint. Anytime my teachers used powerpoint in class it was always a lecture. I see no point in paying attention to the teacher if they have the powerpoint up if its not interactive. Some of my teachers will put the powerpoint slides up online and then I really do not see the point in listening or writing the notes down. I really think if people are going to use powerpoint it needs to be interactive to keep the children engrossed in the presentation.

Videos

I had a really fun time recording our video. I was surprised how easy it was to do. Once we had everything taped, it didn't take long to edit and finish our movie. I think this would be a really fun activity to do in elementary school when in small groups. I remember I did it in junior high and enjoyed it.

Podcast

I really enjoyed reading the article on podcasts. Before reading the article, I was not sure how to use podcasts in the classroom. I also wasn't to sure about what they were exactly. Reading this article helped me to think of ways that I would be able to use podcasts when I become a teacher. I am glad that I was able to read this article because it helped me to see what I would need to do if I wanted my students to do a podcast in the classroom.

Webpage

I was surprised how easy it was to start a webpage. I am not used doing things like that on the web and I thought it went pretty well. I am glad I am doing this now, so that when I get a job in a school I know what I am doing. I still have a way to go but I think it is going pretty smoothly. I really like creating my own webpage and I am really glad I have this opportunity.

Websites

I really liked learning about the different websites that I can use in the classroom. I really think that they will come in handy when I start to teach. I really like the website unitedstreaming.com. I liked how they had videos to go along with the lessons. It will be nice to teach a lesson and then be able to show a video to my class to go along with it. I can also have students to look on the website to see if they can find videos that interests them. I especially liked how they had The Magic School Bus episodes on the sight.

Inspiration

I really liked inspiration. There is so much that you can do with it. It is a lot better than word with making diagrams. I would use this to make worksheets for the children to review things that they have learned and to review books that they have read. I am really glad I learned how to use it because I needed it to do my science concept map.

Microsoft word

I liked learning about the different charts that I can use in word. I think that it will really help in making worksheets and lessons for teaching. I make a blank chart and have the students fill it in with things that they have learned and then go over it as a class and see the the different charts that they came up with.

Blogs in Education

A blog is an electronic journal that anybody can use. It can either be private or public depending the the author's choice.

Blogs can be used in the classroom for the teacher to write what homework students have for the night. Students would be able to look at it and see what homework they need to do, especially ones that missed school that day. Teachers can also use it to see what students think about a certain subject that they are going to be learning about and to see what they already now about a topic.
